Sarl Elva Ceram

90% water recovery: efficiency and sustainability in ceramics

The company, which previously had no treatment system, needed to manage wastewater containing high levels of suspended solids and glaze residues from porcelain stoneware production, with the goal of maximizing water reuse at a flow rate of 180 m³/h.

The technical challenges

No Existing Treatment System

The need to implement a completely new system for treating water heavily loaded with glaze residues and suspended solids.

Wastewater Variability

Management of water with unstable pH levels and high concentrations of ceramic processing residues.

Process Integration

The system must continuously supply spray dryers, presses and glazing lines.

24/7 Operational Continuity

Ensuring uninterrupted operation to support the plant’s continuous production cycles.

The solution: tailor-made engineering

We designed a customized automatic system for the complete recovery of process water and the mechanized management of sludge:

PRX-4800/110000 Clarifier

Sized for the rapid clarification of 180 m³/h of water heavily loaded with ceramic residues.

PRX-630/16 Automatic Filter Press

For continuous dewatering and sludge ready for disposal.

SCADA Software

Monitoring and data logging system for full real-time control of plant performance.

Automatic Dosing System

Optimized preparation and dosing of polyelectrolyte to maximize chemical treatment efficiency.

Final capacity

180 m³/h

Technology

Automatic clarification + Filter press dewatering

Process water

Wastewater from the glazing and pressing lines is conveyed to the treatment system.

Solid-liquid separation

Thanks to the automatic dosing system, glaze residues and suspended particles settle rapidly in the clarifier.

Sludge dewatering

The filter press compacts the solid residues into dry cakes, minimizing waste management costs.

Water ready for reuse

90% of the water is clarified and returned to the production cycle, closing the loop.

Results and economic impact

90% water savings

Drastic reduction in industrial water consumption thanks to the full recovery of clarified wastewater.

-25% operating costs

Reduced operating costs through automation and more efficient use of treatment chemicals.

Production stability

Elimination of downtime related to water management and greater overall system reliability.

Minimal environmental impact

Significant reduction in sludge volumes and improved overall sustainability of the production site.
